Denise Reis is the newest member of the Sahuarita Unified School District Governing Board. Pima County School Superintendent, Dustin J. Williams, appointed Reis to the seat after recommendation from a selected panel, (whose members were chosen by SUSD Superintendent Dr. Manuel Valenzuela and board president, John Sparks.)

Reis and Megan Jove had applied for the seat, left vacant by the resignation of Dalia Zimmerman effective earlier in the summer. A 41-year resident of Arizona, Reis has a BS in agriculture, agricultural education and agricultural technology management information systems.

She has had a contract with the Arizona Future Farmers of America, Career and Technical Education Student Organization for nine years. In 2004, Reis served as a substitute teacher in the Continental School District, before later serving a year as an eighth grade/science teacher in the district. Then from 2006-2009, she was a substitute teacher for both SUSD and Continental.

The position will be up for reelection in November of 2020 (for a two-year term).
