Bringing over 30 years of surgical expertise to patients, Dr. Coates is dedicated to care for the whole patient. At Coates’ Vein Clinic, pllc, he treats venous insufficiency, leg swelling, leg cramps, restless legs, spider veins, varicose veins, venous blood clots, venous stasis dermatitis, and venous ulcers/non-healing wounds.
Dr. Coates is board certified by the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University and received his medical training at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He worked in Chattanooga in private practice after completing his general surgery residency at the Erlanger Medical Center, and later completed a cardiovascular and thoracic fellowship at the University of Arizona.
He returned to Chattanooga in 2007 to open Vein Therapies of Chattanooga, pllc. There he was able to offer his patients an innovative and minimally invasive procedure to help those who suffer from varicose veins and venous reflux disease.
“Not only have I personally experienced the discomfort of varicose veins, but also the amazing relief of symptoms after this newer procedure. Andi and I are excited to return to the Sonoran Desert. We want to continue our practice of caring for people with varicose veins and venous reflux disease and make Arizona our permanent home” said Dr. Griffin Coates.
Now at the Rancho Sahuarita Marketplace, he will continue to offer the same high-quality standard of care at Coates Vein Clinic, pllc. After a thorough review of a patient’s history and symptoms, Dr. Coates may perform a diagnostic duplex ultrasound. Based on his findings, he will discuss the specific treatment option(s) best suited for that patient, in an effort to ease symptoms and improve the patient’s overall quality of life. Many of the treatments are covered by insurance, including Medicare.
